In the inaugural episode of the new podcast Order in the Court, host Paul W. Grimm, a retired federal judge and director of the Bolch Judicial Institute at Duke Law, and U.S. District Judge Robin L. Rosenberg discuss the federal rules of civil procedure and the rulemaking process. They break down how the rules are made and how they work in order to help attorneys, judges, and the general public better understand this essential aspect of the United States court system.

“It is reaffirming and reassuring, particularly in times where we might not always feel that way about our systems of government, that this process works well,” says Judge Rosenberg on the podcast. “It is deliberate. It can be slow-moving, but it is precise, and it is with all of the right intentions to make the system work better for those who operate within it.”

Order in the Court is a podcast produced by the Bolch Judicial Institute of Duke Law School and explores new ideas related to rules of practice and procedure. The podcast is hosted by retired U.S. district court judge and director of the Institute, Paul W. Grimm.
