• A bit-by-bit duplicate of a backup tape or hard drive that is forensically sound. Also known as an image copy, a forensic copy or a mirror image.^{[1] [2]}

• As distinct from document imaging, electronic evidence is making an identical copy of a hard drive. Also known as a “mirror image” or “mirroring”.^[3]

• An electronic “picture” of how the document would look if printed. Images can be stored in various file formats, the most common of which are TIFF and PDF.
