  • Unicode provides a unique number for every character, no matter what the platform, no matter what the program, no matter what the language (using more than one byte to represent each character, Unicode enables most written languages in the world to be represented using a single character set).[1]
  • A 16-bit character code that enables computers to store characters in any language, including nonalphabetic languages, such as Japanese and Chinese.
