EDRM Update\r\n

Welcome to the May 2014 issue of EDRM Update!

\r\nIssue 9 – May 2014\r\n\r\nGreetings!\r\n\r\nEarlier this month EDRM announced a new model diagram is now available. The updated model reflects the evolution of our understanding of the overall discovery process, and in particular, the importance of information governance both as the starting point and throughout any e-discovery project. The full announcement, with background information and a description of the diagram changes is available here.\r\n\r\nThe new graphic is available for download in a variety of formats from the EDRM website and may be used at no cost, but with proper attribution (EDRM.net).\r\n\r\nPlease ensure your internal documentation and all sales/marketing usage of the EDRM image are up to date.\r\n\r\nRegards,\r\n\r\nGeorge Socha & Tom Gelbmann\r\n\r\nTo receive the newsletter, subscribe to our list\r\n[contentblock id=1344]\r\n\r\n[toc]\r\n\r\n

May 2014 Highlights

\r\nOn May 19, we published version 3 of the EDRM diagram, updated to emphasize information governance.  Click here to download JPG, EPS and PDF copies of the updated diagram.\r\n\r\nOn May 21, we held a webinar, Cyber Security 101 for Legal Professionals, sponsored by AccessData. An outstanding panel of speakers – Bryan Foster, Gail Gottehrer, Rich Hoffman and Devin Krugly – discussed risks to law firms from potential cyber attacks and security breaches and offered approaches for preventing and responding those concerns. The webinar drew a diverse audience of governmental and regulatory personnel as well as corporate attendees from industries such as energy, financial services, retail and manufacturing.\r\n\r\nWe have set the date for EDRM’s Fall Workshop.  EDRM teams will meet in St. Paul, MN from the evening of October 29 until after noon on October 31 to complete work on projects in the pipeline and discuss new initiatives.\r\n\r\n

The team will also is focusing on finalizing the EDRM XML 2.0 schema.\r\n\r\nEDRM’s IGRM team is developing stakeholder viewpoint whitepapers to highlight expectations and obligations of parties involved in developing information governance policies and procedures.\r\n\r\nAdditional teams are working on processing standards, email processing and hashing standards, dark data, and challenges of new technologies including guidelines on social media and cloud-based systems.\r\n\r\n
