EDRM Update – January 2016

Issue 29 – January 2016

January saw continued adjustment by e-discovery professionals to the amendments to the FRCP rules that went into effect in December 2015. EDRM has prepared a library containing the full set of the rules along with related articles and materials – the EDRM FRCP Reference Collection that you can find here. Bookmark this resource for future reference.

Legaltech 2016 was of course a focus for many of us in January. Not surprisingly, there were the annual ruminations about predictive coding, rules changes, cross-border issues, information governance and the like. A standing-room-only crowd enjoyed the session hosted by EDRM and Kroll Ontrack, “25 Ediscovery Warnings in 75 Minutes.” The format is fast and entertaining, and offers opportunities for experts from all areas of e-discovery to share their practical knowledge.

While it is fun to get together at events such as LegalTech, it also helps to keep in mind James Clear’s spin on John Heywood’s “Rome wasn’t built in a day” aphorism: “Rome wasn’t built in a day, but they were laying bricks every hour.”

Join us at our 2016 EDRM Spring Workshopco-located with the ACEDS Annual Conference on April 18 in New York – as well as throughout the year as an EDRM member – and help us lay those e-discovery and information governance bricks!

Remember to check out our upcoming events. We would love to see you at the 5th Annual ASU-Arkfeld eDiscovery and Digital Evidence Conference, the 4th Annual UF Law / EDRM E-Discovery Conference, and, as we mentioned above, our 2016 EDRM Spring Workshop.

Regards,

George Socha and Tom Gelbmann
