Craig Ball Updates his “Perfect Preservation Letter”

The always generous Craig Ball shares another gift with the community- this time a brilliant Preservation Letter exemplar, for which we are grateful. Updated with newer forms of electronically stored information (ESI), Craig Ball’s new letter carries the Letter, with pen on a deskadmonition to right size it to your particular matter:

What follows isn’t the perfect preservation letter for your unique case, so don’t deploy it as a form. Instead, use it as a drafting aid to flag issues unique to relevant electronic evidence, and tailor your preservation demand proportionately, scaled to the unique issues, parties, and systems in your case.
