Feature Engineering

Definition(s)

The process of identifying Features of a Document that are used as input to a Machine Learning Algorithm. Typical Features include words and phrases, as well as metadata such as subjects, dates, and file types. One of the simplest and most common Feature Engineering techniques is Bag of Words. More complex Feature Engineering techniques include the use of Ontologies and Latent Semantic Indexing. 1
