N consecutive words or characters treated as a Feature. In the phrase, “To be or not to be,” a word Bigram (i.e., 2-gram) would be “to be”; a word An N-Gram where N = 3 (i.e., a 3-gram). (i.e., 3-gram) would be “to be or”; a Quad-Gram (i.e., 4-gram) would be “to be or not”; and so on. See also Shingling. 1
