Stratified Sampling

Definition(s)

  • A form of random sampling in which the population is formed into subgroups or “strata.” Objects in each group are sampled in the same proportion as the size of the group is to the whole population. Each object has an equal chance of being sampled, but it also ensures that each group is sampled proportionately.  1
