EDRM Update – February 2015

EDRM Update\r\nIssue 18 – February 2015\r\n

Welcome to the February 2015 issue of EDRM Update!

\r\nMarch 2, 2015 – February is a busy time in the electronic discovery market. Many of us began the month attending LegalTech New York, where we enjoyed reconnecting with industry peers and where again this year we were reminded – both in the educational sessions and in the exhibit hall – that e-discovery remains a prominent topic in the world of legal technology.\r\n\r\nEDRM kicked off the month by announcing a busy calendar of events for Q1.  In addition to several webinars held this month and scheduled for March, EDRM is also co-sponsoring the Third Annual Electronic Discovery Conference with the University of Florida Fredric G. Levin College of Law on March 27.  We also announced dates for the 2015 EDRM Spring Workshop, being held May 4-6 in St. Paul, MN.\r\n\r\nThis month we also announced the publishing of an updated Statistical Sampling Applied to Electronic Discovery to the EDRM website.  A special thank you to the project’s principal author, Michael Levine, and to the entire team that worked on this important initiative.\r\n\r\nWatch for more exciting news and updates in the coming weeks, including a new EDRM partnership with the eDiscovery Daily blog and another new, soon-to-be published, resource to help practitioners through the critical stages of the discovery lifecycle.\r\n\r\nRegards,\r\n\r\nGeorge Socha & Tom Gelbmann\r\n\r\nTo receive the newsletter, subscribe to our list\r\n\r\n[contentblock id=1344]\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n[toc]\r\n\r\n

Member Profile of the MonthMichael Levine

\r\nMichael Levine, Independent Attorney and Consultant\r\n\r\nEDRM Member since 2011\r\n\r\nEDRM Projects & Committees: Search Team, and led the 2011-12 and 2014-15 projects on statistical sampling.\r\n\r\nWhy I’m an EDRM member: I have long been interested in the use of statistics in legal contexts, and the emergence of electronic discovery has clearly expanded this use of statistics. I joined EDRM, and I have enjoyed participating, because I have been able to work with and learn from others who share this interest. EDRM is a forum in which different views are expressed and debated, but always with the goal of developing a useful consensus.\r\n\r\nJust as e-discovery generally presents the challenge of bridging the tech and non-tech worlds, the statistics area presents the challenge of bridging the math and non-math worlds. I would like to thank all the participants who contributed in producing a resource that will assist people in this industry who are engaged in that challenge.\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n
